Welcome to the Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club web site!

We are the largest road running club in the state of Hawaii. Through our affiliation with the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), we maintain close ties with other RRCA clubs in Hawaii and across the mainland, as well as RRCA National Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

Founded in 1962, our club's membership has always reflected a cross section of the running community in Hawaii--from recreational fun runners to elite competitors. The members of the club firmly believe that long distance running, properly practiced, contributes significantly to health and happiness. The Club is therefore committed to active participation and cultivation of long distance running as a community service. Accordingly, the Club is devoted to the vigorous, rational, promotion of its sport and long distance competition.

In recognition of the diversity of our membership's interests, MPRRC offers a wide variety of running events. Today we host timed Races and Fun Runs and untimed Trail Runs; we have been sponsoring a Marathon Readiness Series structured to help prepare runners for the rigors of the Honolulu Marathon; conduct special events such as the around-the-island Oahu Perimeter Relay; and have supported worthy causes like the Run for the Rain Forest and The Honolulu Zoo Fun Run.

Including races managed for outside organizations, MPRRC is typically involved in two dozen races or more each year. About 14 of these are "show-up-and-sign-up" races which members need only pay $2 to enter, yet still enjoy all of the benefits of a larger scale race such as computerized timing, age-group prizes, ample aid stations, a safe route with appropriate police and course marshalls, refreshments after the race and an accurately measured course.

The club publishes a quality newsletter, comparable to any professional publication found in the running community. We have this web site complete with upcoming race and club activity information, race results and links to other running related sites. We have an information line always available by calling 808-295-MPRRC. And your membership card entitles you to a 10% discount at the Running Room, Oahu's best running store.

Any contribution of time and effort made in support of club activities, no matter how small, is always warmly appreciated. In addition to helping the Club conduct our races, volunteers have the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to conduct and direct a race operations, learn how to time races using computerized equipment and learn how to publicize an event both before and after the race.
